Vertical Skills Training day

Recently, a Vertical Skills Training day was held at Sutherland Guide Hall, as our regular RockSchool location at Noorumba Guide Camp was too wet to access.

It was a very successful day with 18 participants, including 2 visitors from Armidale who joined us. We were mainly confined to indoor activities, but were still able to practice different types of setups, hauling systems, recovery hierarchy and even managed a practical demonstration of rope strength, slowly cutting through each strand of the static rope until it finally broke.

Thanks to everyone who attended for a very productive and informative day. There was even a half day field trip to Climbing Equipment by some attendees, so that they could check out and purchase some new gear.

Why Scouting Is So Powerful

Check out this Youtube link to a documentary following Bear Grylls - the public face of the Scouts in the UK, and the youngest ever Chief Scout - as he explores the stories of some of the Scouting heroes, who demonstrate exactly why Scouting is such a powerful force for good.
